Methods of Teaching Environmental Education Workshop

"Methods" hones in on teaching strategy and constructing and implementing lessons to reach your environmental literacy goals.

The "Methods of Teaching Environmental Education" workshop is open ONLY to enrolled Virginia EE Certification Candidates who have completed and earned full credit in the following prerequisites:

  • Criteria 1 assignments

  • Attended Criteria 2.1 "Professional Development of Environmental Educators" workshop

This hybrid workshop takes place over two virtual sessions and one in-person session.

  • Virtual meetings: Thursday, March 13 and Tuesday, March 18, 2025, 6:00 - 9:00 pm

  • In-Person meeting: Saturday, March 22, 2025, 10:00 am - 4:30 pm in Charlottesville, VA - Ivy Creek

  • In addition, participants will complete some asynchronous assignments.

Attendance at all three meetings is required.

Lunch, coffee, and snacks will be provided on the 22nd.

Topics covered include: differentiation, learning environments, teaching methods, developmentally appropriate education, inclusivity and equity, standards, assessment, and evaluation. Most importantly, this workshop's goal is to help you reach your goal of growing a more environmentally literate Virginia.

Important Details:

  • Registration closes Friday, March 7th at 5:00 pm.

  • Attendees must have earned full credit in Criteria 1 in Canvas and attended the 2.1 Professional Development of Environmental Educators workshop before registering in order to attend.

  • Minimum of 5 attendees must enroll in order for this workshop to take place.
