Participants will explore the Mind Heart for Diversity framework, designed to prepare students and professionals for entry into industries where representation from their communities is low. This workshop will cover both the framework and insights into navigating environmentally related industries. Participants will gain tools and activities to enhance workplace relationships, boost morale, and increase productivity within their professional settings.

About the Presentor:

Dr. Easley is the child of civil rights activists who protested in the Children’s March in 1963 at the height of the Civil Rights Movement and integrated an all-white school in Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Easley was the inaugural Assistant Dean of Community and Inclusion at the School of the Environment at Yale University and the inaugural Dean of Community and Inclusion at North Carolina State University. Dr. Easley attended Alabama A&M University for his Bachelor’s degree, Iowa State University for his Master’s degree, and North Carolina State University for his Doctorate. He has a background in forestry, genetics, and adult education.

After his Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis, Easley gained new clarity about his own lived experience and has started speaking out more on this topic. Further, Easley sees his diagnosis as a benefit because identifying as neurodivergent has expanded how he administers his enrichments.

Dr. Easley is a certified diversity, equity, and inclusion consultant who works with academic institutions, corporate entities, and other organizations to help them actualize strong diversity initiatives that welcome everyone and shift work culture to be equitable.

Dr. Easley is also a musical artist, professor, Eagle Scout, and former campus pastor. He intentionally merges conscious lyrics, ecumenical spirituality, land stewardship, education, diversity/equity/inclusion principles, and entrepreneurial thinking in his lectures, workshops, and presentations.
